Episode 35: Alanna O’Garro | Showing up for Yourself & Others

Alanna O’Garro is the co-founder of Rivers Coaching, where she is a Liberation Pedagogy and Systems Coach. Her work uplifts and centres the knowing of black, queer, crip, womanist radials. Her guiding mantra is, “I am not free until we are all free”.
In this interview, Alanna shares why she is so passionate about the liberation of all people – she wants us all to be free and thrive. She also talks about the pedagogy (method and practice of teaching) of the UK education system and how it relates to liberation. Because Alanna understands the limitations caused by her own oppression, she is committed to liberating all people.
According to Alanna, we need to stop and listen to people affected by everyday oppression; to people adversely affected by politics; and people who are experiencing sad and unfortunate circumstances. She believes the best way for us to truly liberate each other is to help each other with resources we have, even if they are limited.
Alanna is motivated by the people and organisations around her to keep going and to keep pushing for everyone’s liberation.
