7 Great Ways To #ChooseToChallenge To Be Better
March is Women’s History Month and we celebrate International Women’s Day. This year’s theme is #ChooseToChallenge.
The motto this year is “a challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change.”
And the challenge starts with you!
To achieve your goals and live your best life, you must challenge yourself to be better. By taking action, you push yourself outside of your comfort zone and face your fears so that you can be your best.
Here are 7 great ways you can #ChooseToChallenge yourself to be better:
- Re-educate yourself
Let’s face it, change can be uncomfortable and scary especially when you are doing something new. But with each new thing you learn, you challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone. This can definitely be a struggle, and you may not get it right the first time you try.Challenge yourself to keep trying because this is how you learn and get better. Despite your fears and other barriers that hold you back, you are (re)educating yourself to be better. And the more you do it, the better you get.
- Ask for help
Asking for help is scary for a lot of people. Maybe you’re afraid of looking stupid and feeling weak. Maybe you’re a perfectionist and are afraid to admit that you can’t do something the ‘right’ way. Maybe you’re afraid of putting yourself out there. Whatever the reason, by not asking for help when you need it, you put up barriers that stop you from being your best.Challenge yourself to ask for help when you need it, especially when you are afraid to ask. By asking for help from people who have already done it, you can do things much quicker and easier.
- Start a Gratitude Journal
Starting and maintaining a gratitude journal can be challenging at first. After a few weeks you will feel the benefits, especially for your mental health. Studies show that being more grateful helps you sleep better, lower stress and improve your relationships.Challenge yourself to spend 10-15 minutes every day reflecting and writing down the things you are grateful for. You will see what an amazing impact focusing on the good things in your life does for your mindset.
- Create a Vision Board
The reason why a lot of people struggle in life is because they don’t know what they want. By creating a vision board, you challenge yourself to create a vision for your future. This means getting clear on what you want and why you want it. A vision board gives you an emotional connection to your ideal life that compels you to take action.Challenge yourself to create a new vision board (even if you already have one). This is the first step to making your dreams a reality.
- Declutter Your Closet
Do you hang onto things that don’t need anymore and say things like: “you never know, I may need it one day” or “I’ve had this so long, it feels wrong to get rid of it”?Your closet is a great example of the Pareto Principle. Fashion industry experts have said that people tend to wear 20% of the clothes you own, 80% of the time. So it begs the question: why are you hanging onto clothes you no longer wear? If you haven’t worn a piece of clothing in a year, it’s time to get rid. By holding onto the stuff you don’t need, you can get stuck in a routine that is preventing you from being your best self.
Challenge yourself to declutter your wardrobe and donate your old clothes. This small act will help clean up your messy closet and it’s a great way to help others.
- Get Creative and Try Something New
Most people spend the majority of their day doing the same old thing and rarely try new. Trying something new allows you to get to know yourself better as you (re)discover your passions. It also stimulates your creativity, and sense of adventure.Challenge yourself to try something new and engaging. Start creating experiences that reinject energy and excitement in your life.
- Reach Out to a Coach, Mentor or Someone You Look Up To
As you grow on your self-development journey, you meet many people that you will look up to and connect with. This can be mentors and coaches who have been where you’re at now and can offer great pearls of wisdom. When you reach out to people, there may be some that won’t get back to you, but many others will so don’t let that stop you.Challenge yourself to reach out to someone that motivates and inspires you. Whether it’s to ask for advice, become a client or say hi and thank them for the great things they are doing, once you start reaching out to people, you will be so glad you did.
When you #ChooseToChallenge yourself to be better, you grow as a person. Change happens when you step outside of your comfort zone and rise to the challenge. By staying focused and dedicated, you can do so many great things.
